Meeting with the doctor
First of all, we listen to you, find out what eye problems you had before, conduct a visual examination and inform the optometrists what indicators you need to pay special attention to. The initial meeting with the doctor allows you to clarify the localization of the problem and navigate in which direction to diagnose further.
Using computer refractometers, we determine the refractive power of the optical system of the eye. You sit down on a chair, put your chin on the device, rest your forehead and look at the image in the device. While you are focusing on it, we take readings – in this way we detect hyperopia, myopia and astigmatism.
Visual acuity test
We check the visual acuity in the classical way without correction and with correction. Correction is carried out with plus, minus or cylindrical glasses of various strengths in accordance with the results of refractometry. If we are working with a child, please read letters of different sizes or name pictures.
Measurement of intraocular pressure
We measure the pressure with a pneumotonometer. During the procedure, you will feel the effect of a jet of air on the surface of the eyeball. For a correct assessment of the results, we additionally conduct pachymetry, that is, we estimate the thickness of the cornea. The thinner the cornea, the higher the pressure. In some cases we use modern Finnish Icare blood pressure monitors. Due to the light weight of the sensor and the short contact with the cornea, patients with high sensitivity and children tolerate the procedure well without the use of anesthetics.
Inspection of the anterior segment of the eye
Fundus examination, or ophthalmoscopy, is performed using a slit lamp, as well as contactless and contact diagnostic lenses. The contact technique is the most informative due to the examination of all areas of the fundus – from the center to the extreme periphery – with a high resolution (before that, anesthetic drops are instilled into the eyes, which reduce the sensitivity of the surface of the eyeball). Often, multiple lenses are used with different viewing options for a more accurate diagnosis.

The doctor provides complete information about the health of your eyes and, if you need treatment, talks about it, informs the cost, and makes appointments for the next appointment. You will receive a detailed written opinion with a description of the examinations carried out, diagnosis and recommendations; additionally you can get a picture of the fundus.
We conduct ultrasound to determine a number of diseases of the organ of vision, especially in opaque optical media, when traditional examination is difficult: in case of corneal opacity, mature cataract, hemorrhages or inflammatory opacities of the vitreous body, as well as for differential diagnosis of intraocular neoplasms and calculation of the parameters of an artificial lens before cataract surgery. We use the Sonomed Escalon VuPad scanner.
We carry out optical coherence tomography using SOCT Copernicus – non-contact, non-invasive. We get a layered image of the inner structure of the eye. We perform tomography of the posterior segment of the eye for high-quality diagnosis and observation of patients with diseases of the retina and optic nerve, tomography of the anterior segment of the eye – for additional examination of the conjunctiva, cornea, iris and angle of the anterior chamber.
We define the boundaries of the field of view and identify areas of loss in it with the automatic perimeter PTS 2000 from Optopol . The results of the study are of great importance in the diagnosis of diseases of the optic nerve and retina, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmological pathology.
After the examination, your near vision will be slightly defocused, so it will be difficult to read and work at the computer for about 3 more hours. We do not recommend getting behind the wheel. We also advise you to bring sunglasses with you, so that after the examination you do not feel discomfort in bright sunlight.
